TJs U12 Bs delivered one of their most complete performances of the season on a sunny afternoon, running out convincing 30–0 winners against a strong Folkestone side.
The tone was set almost immediately, with Peter crossing after just 51 seconds to give TJ’s an early foothold. That fast start was followed by a well-taken score from Freddie Smith at 5:25, before Hylton added a third on 14:32 to cap a dominant first-half display.
Despite the scoreline, Folkestone showed plenty of quality and intent, testing TJ’s throughout. However, the defensive effort from TJ’s proved outstanding, with committed tackling and strong organisation keeping the visitors scoreless.
The second half continued in much the same vein. Howard struck early at 20:23, followed by Thomas at 22:43 as TJ’s maintained their momentum. A standout moment came later in the half when Thomas B produced an excellent cross-field kick, perfectly weighted and gathered by Freddie Smith, who finished confidently for his second try at 25:05 to complete the scoring in line with league guidelines.
A spirited Folkestone side agreed to continue the game, which saw them claw back a try, but which also saw Hylton, George Zhang and Alfie score for TJs as well as second and third tries for Peter and Freddie respectively.
TJ’s game management was particularly impressive. The team showed clear awareness in their decision-making, using the forwards effectively off slower ball before moving it wide when the tempo lifted, allowing them to break down a well-drilled Folkestone defence. The rucking throughout was another key strength, with George Zhang especially prominent, consistently securing quick ball and laying the platform for the backs to play.
While the 30–0 result suggests a one-sided contest, Folkestone’s quality and effort ensured this was anything but straightforward, making TJ’s defensive discipline all the more noteworthy.
Players of the Match were Myles and Hylton, both of whom played key roles in a performance that combined attacking fluency with resolute defence.
