TJs kicked off with great intent, immediately applying pressure inside the OAs 22. Ben Lake carried strongly, forcing the visitors to clear, but the kick went straight into touch and gave TJs an early attacking lineout.
OAs looked to counter but a clearance was charged down, and Jake Rutherford capitalised with a powerful break. Quick hands out wide found an overlap and TJs crossed in the right-hand corner for the opening try. The conversion was good, putting TJs 7–0 up.
OAs hit back shortly afterwards with a well-worked move of their own, levelling the score at 7–7.
First Half Momentum;
TJs responded superbly. A driving maul from a lineout on the 22 saw Jake Rutherford peel off and crash over for his second try. Luke Beaumont added the extras to make it 14–7.
The home side continued to dominate territory. Strong defence forced a turnover, and Santi Savage finished clinically down the wing after a slick move. The conversion drifted wide, but TJs extended their lead to 19–7.
A brilliant run from Jake Rutherford carved through the defence and he dotted down under the posts. Beaumont converted to stretch the score to 26–7.
Just before the break, Savage struck again with another try down the wing, though the conversion was missed. TJs went in at half-time comfortably ahead, 31–7
Second Half
TJs wasted no time after the restart. A sharp line break and neat offload put Jake Rutherford in for his hat-trick try. The conversion attempt struck the upright, leaving the score at 36–14.
OAs showed spirit with some phases in TJs territory, but the defence stood firm. Toby Brown produced a crucial turnover right in front of the sticks, snuffing out a dangerous attack.
TJs pressure soon told again. A sweeping move from touchline to touchline ended with another score in the corner. The conversion struck the post, but the scoreboard ticked over to 36–19.
In the closing stages, TJs discipline held strong despite OAs pushing hard. A penalty on the 22 and a crooked lineout let opportunities slip for the visitors. Ben Lake and Toby Brown continued to disrupt at the breakdown, forcing turnovers at key moments.
The referee’s whistle brought an end to a commanding TJs performance.
A dominant showing in both defence and attack, highlighted by Jake Rutherford’s hat-trick and Santi Savage’s clinical finishing, sealed an excellent home win.
