Tjs Win Again

Adam Hookway

Tjs got back to winning ways but it took a late effort to take the game away from BSE

Tjs returned to a misty Slade for this National 1 Round 9 match up against old foes and newly promoted Bury St Edmunds on Saturday and whilst maximum points were secured it wasn't until the very end that the result was secured.
The first 10 minutes were all Tjs, or rather all Will Holling, as he was driven over the line twice from attacking lineouts to give Tjs a 10-0 lead before he was yellow carded as well. BSE took advantage of the extra man to go over themselves to make it 10-5
Tjs kept on the front foot though and the pace of the back three with Jack Walsh and the returning Curtis Barnes on the wings plus Nathan Earle at full back enabled Tjs to spread it wide and fast which then created space on the inside. Shadyn Osgood took advantage of this twice in the next 10 minutes to finish off Tj moves to grab his own brace of tries and secure Tjs the try bonus point. With Connor Lloyd converting both Tjs led 24-5.
BSE though refused to lie down and the second quarter saw them edge their way back into contention as they added two unconverted tries to close to 24-15 at the halfway mark
And BSE came out the stronger for the second half and a fourth bonus point try saw them close to 24-20 before they suffered a yellow card to put them on the back foot for the final quarter.
Tjs started to up the pace of the game on the hour mark as the ball was spread right where Nathan Earle collected on the drift to arc round and over a scrambling BSE defence. BSE responded with a converted try of their own but the final 10 minutes was mostly Tjs as Connor Lloyd tapped and darted over before converting his own try to make it 38-7. Lloyd then added a penalty to make it 41-27 to seal the deal and return Tjs to winning ways with a W8 L1 record to date.
Next Saturday Tjs are again at The Slade when Rosslyn Park are the visitors for a 2pm KO
