Undefeated Tjs Edge Out Bishop's Stortford

Adam Hookway

Tjs made it six narrow wins from six whilst the 2s and Womens squads both won and the 3s slipped to defeat. Successes across the Juniors to boot

It seems the old adage that there's never an easy game in National 1 is being soundly proven as Tjs won 32-36 away at Bishop's Stortford on Saturday to maintain their winning start to this season's campaign
First half tries from Oscar Waite, Sam Morton-Smith, Harrison Langworthy and Connor Lloyd plus a Lloyd conversion gave Tjs a 20-22 half time lead and a try bonus point
In a much more cagey second half Tjs edged further ahead with tries from Lloyd and Morton-Smith and extras for both from Lloyd to lead 36-27 on the hour mark. And whilst Stortford scored a further try they couldn't get over in the corner at the end to snatch victory.
Back at The Slade the 2s had to work hard to see off the challenge of Park House 27-10 in their Counties 1 Kent encounter. First half tries from James Mardon, Caleb Raubenheimer and Graham Bovis and a Jared van Zijl conversion gave them a half time lead. But it took a 75th minute Jay Smith try, converted by van Zijl to seal the deal.
Also at The Slade the 3s were pipped 27-29 in the final minute by Maidstone Mustangs in their Kent A Rural match up
Elsewhere in National 1 Birmingham Moseley lost 21-31 to Rosslyn Park and Cambridge's woes continued with a 26-59 loss at home to Camborne
Dings couldn't hold on to their first half lead as they slipped to a 35-45 defeat at home to Leeds Tykes and London Scottish climbed out of the bottom three with a 64-40 win over Sheffield.
Sale FC lost 21-31 to Plymouth Albion who remain joint top with Tjs whilst our next opponents Rams beat Bury St Edmunds 27-7

Sunday saw an impressive array of results with Tjs Womens squad beating Folkestone 39-20 in their league game at The Slade.
Ella Apps led the way with a brace of tries and Rachel Marsh, Tiegan Emmerton and Catherine Davies also dotted down with Belle Raines adding two conversions. A couple of anonymous try scorers made up the remaining points
