Tykes Take the Spoils at TJs

Adam Hookway23 Nov - 14:18

TJs lost out to Leeds on Saturday in N1 but the 2s and 3s march on with impressive wins. Tjs Academy impress

TJs were back at The Slade on Saturday and despite securing another try bonus point ,on the back of a hattrick from prop Bobby Bratton, it wasn't enough to see off Leeds Tykes
First half tries from Curtis Barnes and Bobby Bratton, both converted by Connor Lloyd, made it 14-24 to the visitors at half time.
Leeds stretched that lead with the first try of the second half before TJs closed the gap with tries from Oscar Waite and Bobby Bratton with Lloyd converting one of them to make it 26-31
A last quarter surge was hoped for and whilst Bratton added a third try to his tally it wasn't enough as Leeds had already stretched away to a lead that they weren't going to give up
Two bonus points again for TJs to keep them 7th in National 1 and brings to an end their WLWL form guide.
TJs have a Saturday off before returning to league duty with a trip to Clifton on 6th Dec and a 3pm KO
Elsewhere in National 1 Plymouth won the top of the table clash with a 22-21 win over Rotherham which pegs back the Titans lead to just a point from Rosslyn Park who lost 27-28 to a resurgent Bishop's Stortford. Blackheath were the other beneficiaries as they climbed to third with a 31-3 defeat of Sedgley Park.
Leicester Lions, Dings and Birmingham & Mosely complete the bottom three spaces after they lost 24-38, 24-35 and 13-15 to Rams, Clifton and Sale respectively
TJs 2s were also at The Slade in action against Counties 2 Kent rivals Folkestone and they secured a 29-10 home win to keep them top along with Westcombe Park
Tries from Ben Moore Alex Gribbon, Jamie Tutt and a brace from Toby Brown secured the win with Tom Roper converting two of the five tries.
TJs 3s headed in the opposite direction to tackle Folkestone 2s in a Kent B Rural match up and came away with an impressive 19-39 win to maintain their challenge at the top of the table
