The Slade was bathed in sunshine on Saturday for Tjs v Clifton in National 1 as Tjs thanked their sponsors at a pre-game lunch.
It was a blustery day with TJs enjoying the wind at their backs in the first half which saw them run in 4 tries and lead 26-5 at the break. Tries form Will Holling, Shadyn Osgood and Curtis Barnes sent them on their way within the first quarter and Vinnie Everitt added the fourth as the half came to an end.
The second half started brightly with Lewis Gjaltema running in from halfway from the restart but from there on it was a scrappy affair for TJs as Clifton rallied and edged closer on the scoreboard.
A maximum point win sets Tjs up for their final two rounds and the mathematicians can put their calculators away at last as Tjs retain their National 1 status for next season
Elsewhere in National 1 the race for the title/playoff spots is still on but Rotherham remain in the box seat and 4 points clear after a 80-7 mauling of Rams. Plymouth and Blackheath are locked in second and third respectively on the same points. Plymouth beat Sedgley Park 68-24 and Blackheath saw off Sale 40-19
Rosslyn Park earned the top scorers spot with a 88-7 defeat of Leicester Lions who are relegated. Leeds Tykes edged past Birmingham & Moseley 24-25 and Dings beat Bishop's Stortford 40-34.
The race for the top and bottom it seems will go to the final round.
The 2s were on the road at Westcombe Park for their Counties 2 Kent tussle and they secured an important 28-19 win to edge them closer to the title.
A brace of tries from Oli Paler plus two more from Ruairi Cummings and Arthur Adcock sealed the deal and Robbie Simmonds added the extras.
They are 10 points clear with two rounds to go and next up are second placed Maidstone who visit The Slade on the 18th April
The 3s were in Kent B Rural action at home against Medway 4s and they romped to a 61-24 win. That result takes them top on points differential with Medway and they too play Maidstone, who are in third, next Saturday in a crucial encounter with just two to play
On Sunday Tjs hosted the Kent U16s 'intra-county' match where the two Kent squads played one another.
Tjs provided 11 players to both squads in a thrilling 36-33 result with everyone a winner.
Also on Sunday the U15s were in buoyant mood after a 74-5 win away at Romford
