U8 Report by Lead coach Luke -
Last Sunday TJs U8s welcomed Edenbridge to the Slade for a well-run and enjoyable joint training session. It was a great opportunity for our players to test themselves against fresh opposition, share coaching ideas, and strengthen links between the two clubs.
The focus of the morning was having fun while scoring tries in a series of matches.
Coaches from TJs and Edenbridge worked seamlessly together, ensuring a positive, inclusive atmosphere where all players stayed active and engaged.
Our players showed excellent communication, especially when organising defensive lines during the games.
Support running stood out across the board, with several TJs players recognising space early and taking smart running lines.
The team also demonstrated strong tagging discipline, staying alert and making clean tags, despite losing structure on occasion and wet and muddy conditions.
TJs coaches were pleased with the standard of play and the enthusiasm shown by both sets of players. The session offered valuable exposure to different playing styles and helped reinforce key U8 fundamentals.
Edenbridge’s attitude and energy made the session particularly productive.
A big thank-you to Edenbridge for visiting and to all parents for supporting the session. The TJs U8s represented the club brilliantly, showing teamwork, respect, and a real enjoyment of the game.
Thank you also to the under 7s and 9s for attending similar sessions to the under 8s.
And to Edenbridge for hosting the older age groups.
