Fine weather heralded a mixed bag of results for Tjs this weekend but some solid performances were posted.
Tjs headed north to Leeds in N1 R23 and missed out on a win in a 53-48 defeat, but secured the two points that should consolidate their mid table spot and N1 rugby for next season
Seven tries apiece in a game where defences were stretched in all directions with Tjs drawing level twice in the second half only to see Leeds edge clear in the final quarter before Connor Lloyd slotted a last minute penalty to grab a losing bonus point.
The openness of the game meant both left wings secured half the tries with Curtis Barnes adding another hat trick but being out done by Leeds' own flyer. Tom Kendrick added a brace and Connor Lloyd and Vince Everitt also dotted down.
The result and two bonus points leaves Tjs in 8th with a 15 point cushion over the bottom four and just 3 games to go.
League leaders and promotion hopefuls Rotherham beat second placed Plymouth Albion with their own last minute penalty in a 22-19 win. Blackheath drew level with Albion on points after they downed Sedgley Park 28-61. Clifton beat Dings 28-24 and the race to avoid the drop is well and truly on now.
The 2s were in Counties 2 Kent action and a 36-19 win over Beckenham 2s keeps them top, 5 points clear and a game in hand with 4 to play.
Bruce Chibisa grabbed a brace of tries, Ben Lake, Tom Roper, Jamie Tutt and A N Other all dotted down with Robbie Simmonds adding the extras to 3 of the tries
The 3s were at Gravesend for their Kent B Rural clash and had to share the spoils in a 22-22 draw
On Sunday the Tjs Academy U16 Girls headed to Bristol to take on North Bristol in their NCC Semi Final. A 34-26 defeat was the outcome but the squad fought all the way and it was one of those 'what might have been' games in the end. Tjs travelled in numbers to cheer the squad on an d their performance bodes well for the future of Girls and Ladies rugby at TJs
The U15s secured an impressive 10-28 win away at Bromley and the U12s notched up two wins of their own with the As beating Sevenoaks 45-10 and the Bs over coming Folkestone 55-5
