TJs Can't Quite Get Over the Line

TJs Can't Quite Get Over the Line

Adam Hookway14 Dec - 07:56

N1 narrow loss at home but 2s win again in C2K. 3s downed on road to Medway

TJs slipped to a 24-26 defeat to Bishop's Stortford on Saturday when victory was within their grasp. A remarkably consistent first half to the season results-wise with 6 Ws and 7 Ls but so many missed chances to rue.
First half tries from Henry Kirwan and Tom Kendrick meant TJs trained 10-19 at the break. They fought back to a 24-19 lead and despite BS losing three men to the bin over 16 minutes they could not close the game out with BS scoring late to get in front. Connor Lloyd had a final penalty kick fall agonisingly short on the last play and it was another 2 losing and try bonus points result for TJs
Better news for the 2s as they won the top of the table C2K clash at The Slade against Westcombe Park 44-14.
Max Wheeler grabbed a brace of tries, fellow prop Julien Brosse added another and Fraser Bruce also dotted down. Thrown in a penalty try and a few conversions and penalties for Luke Beaumont and it was a convincing win for TJs
The 3s headed to Medway in their Rural Kent B match up and slipped to a 34-17 defeat, their first loss of the season.
Elsewhere in National 1 Rotherham lead the way at the top by 5 points after a 40-15 defeat of Sedgley Park. Plymouth beat Sale 24-14 and Rosslyn Park lost 29-40 to Rams to lie 2nd and 3rd respectively. TJs head to Rosslyn Park next Friday for an 8pm KO
Birmingham & Moseley beat Clifton 38-7 and Dings saw off Leicester Lions 41-24. Blackheath beat Leeds Tykes 36-28
