Tjs are putting on an unbeatable show at present that is strictly down to clever judgement, consistent selection and speed of thought and feet. One of their best performances of the season on Saturday saw them make it seven maximum points wins from seven National 1 rounds of rugby as they beat Rams 49-19 at The Slade
First half tries from Jack Walsh (2), Connor Lloyd, Matthew Engelbrecht and Steffan James plus five conversions from the ever-reliable boot of Lloyd gave them a 35-14 half time lead.
Engelbrecht added his second and Vince Everitt forced himself over for Tjs seventh try on 70 minutes to seal the deal after Tjs defence had denied Rams all but one try in the second half.
“We are playing confident, heads up and no-risk rugby as we see it as the boys know where the try scorers are. And the whole team is showing so much will and energy to not only ensure the chances are created but also taken. Connor’s boot is the icing on the cake with the extras which at this level is often the difference between winning and losing.
The boys have earned their rest next Saturday but they will be back and raring to go when we travel to Birmingham Moseley in Round 8, which is always a tough place to play” - a Tj insider told us
Joint leaders Plymouth also recorded their seventh win of the season with a 59-12 win over Dings to keep them joint top. Camborne continue to impress in third after their 33-29 defeat of Sale. Bury St Edmunds edged passed Birmingham Moseley 31-26 and the close games continued as Bishop’s Stortford were beaten 36-31 at Leeds Tykes
Cambridge’s winless woes continue as they lost 33-22 at Sheffield and Rosslyn Park went down 26-38 to London Scottish
Tjs 2s were in Counties 1 Kent action away at Beccehamians and they ran in eleven tries in a 7-69 win. Josh Hacker led the way from full back with five tries of his own with Riley Young, Ben Mutch, Alex Borg, Arthur Adcock, Jamie Tutt and Rory Minton sharing the other six. Robbie Simonds and Rory Minton shared the kicking extras
The win puts Tjs second in the table by 2 points behind unbeaten Sevenoaks 2s who beat Gillingham Anchorians 15-45
