TJs headed to The Big Field on Saturday safe in the knowledge that they were already Champions of N2E and destined for National 1 (Level 3) rugby next season. It was perhaps no surprise that Dorking, looking to end on a high as runners up, took the match day plaudits but it was TJs who had more to celebrate after the final whistle
TJs opened the scoring with a try by Duncan Tout and conversion from Sam Evans but Dorking hit back instantly with a converted try of their own to level. It stayed that way until half time despite Dorking having seen red in the first quarter.
Dorking dominated the third quarter to run in 34 points before TJs responded with two late tries from Charlie Self and Duncan Tout plus a second conversion from Sam Evans
A final score of 41-19 was added to the record books but it was only the fourth of a twenty six game season.
In the end TJs won the league 6 points ahead of Dorking and 9 clear of Barnes in third.
Barnes beat Oxford Harlequins 29-47 in their final game whilst Canterbury finished in 4th after defeating relegated Colchester 33-50.
Old Albanians lost out to Henley in a 45-26 result whilst Sevenoaks ended with a home win beating Havant 33-26. Worthing, also relegated lost 26-71 to Guernsey and Combe ended their own season with a flourish and a 38-50 win away at Bury St Edmunds.
Next season TJs will return to National 1 but won't be facing either Darlington MP or Esher who have both been relegated. Esher had a slim chance of survival after beating Sedgley Park 55-14 but with Leicester Lions also winning their final game, 38-29 against Bishop's Stortford, it's the Lions who remain in N1.
