It was a bit gloomy and soft underfoot at The Slade on Saturday but a second half burst of tries from TJs lifted spirits and put another shine on proceedings.
Combe's defence and heavy pack kept TJs at arms length for much of the first half and TJs led 7-5 at the break with a try from Isaac Ridge and conversion from Tom White. Plenty of first half effort from both teams but a lack of pace and accuracy proved the undoing for both sides.
That all changed in a purple 25 minute patch for TJs which was ignited by a Shadyn Osgood powerhouse run to set up a Connor Lloyd try.
Will Holling then finished off a couple of powerful pack drives to grab a brace of tries before a smiling Osgood added his own second with another direct route to the try line.
Tom Kendrick finished the try scoring off after Harrison Sim had intercepted on halfway. Tom White added 5 conversions to give TJs their eighth successive maximum points haul and maintain their top spot in the table.
Their 3 point lead could have been more but Guernsey fought back to edge BSE in a 36-35 thriller whilst Dorking beat Colchester 25-38. Barnes, who TJs travel to play next on the 9th November, beat Canterbury 13-22. At the other end of the table Oaks secured their first win of the season with a 43-29 defeat of Oxford Harlequins
The 2s were also in action at The Slade in their Counties 3 Kent clash with Whitstable and they ran out 30-11 winners.
A first half penalty from Luke Beaumont was followed by a try at the end of the half by Paddy Hagger with Beaumont adding the extras.
TJs pulled away in the second half with tries from Thomas Jarman, Finn O'Keefe and Beaumont who grabbed a brace.
