Black Saturday. Brighter Sunday

Black Saturday. Brighter Sunday

Adam Hookway2 Feb - 06:30

Disappointment for Senior Men 1s and 2s on Saturday but the 3s win on the road and the age groups lifted the mood come Sunday

Tjs got the home game on in National 1 Round 18 with Blackheath thanks to the efforts of both council and Club volunteers. And the pitch suprisingly held up despite the recent and continuous wet weather.
Unfortunately for TJs thought they lost out 19-31 after taking an early lead through a Tom Kendrick try and Connor Lloyd conversion. A final quarter rally saw Ashton Graham score two tries, one of which Lloyd converted, but by then the damage had been done and there wasn't time to claim any bonus points.
Plymouth, who Tjs travel to play next on Saturday 14th February, remain top of National 1 after a 24-52 win at Dings and Rotherham, who are next at The Slade on the 21st February, remain second after a 26-36 win at Rosslyn Park
With only one playable pitch at The Slade the 2s had to rearrange their game with Aylesford Bulls at the opponents ground. And they too came up short in a 28-31 reverse, their first defeat of the season after 12 rounds. Tries from Furneaux, Bovis, Gribbon and Chibisa plus three conversions from Simmonds couldn't quite get Tjs over the winning line. The result allowed Aylesford to secure second spot albeit 10 points behind Tjs at the top of Counties 2 Kent
The 3s also travelled, this time to Canterbury, where they secured a 28-41 victory over their hosts 4th XV
On Sunday the Academy A Squad impressed with a 0-31 away win at Sevenoaks
The U15s v Hove was postponed and the The U13s lost out 5-31 to Westcombe Park
The U12s impressed with a 5-30 result away at Beccehamians
And the U16 and U14 Girls both secured impressive away wins at Ashford with the U16s running out 0-54 victors whilst the U14s won 5-22
