TJs in the Community

Community is at the heart of the TJs vision, both in terms of the friendships and enjoyment of common interests that come with being a member of TJs and also in how we aim to use the club’s resources to be a positive contributor to various causes within the local area.

Supporting local schools
Led by our Head of Community Rugby, Darren Reeves, our educational outreach programme works with a number of local primary and secondary schools and colleges to bring the enjoyment and values of our sport to non-rugby playing organisations. Last year this involved the delivery of sessions during school time, after school clubs and festivals with over 500 children of all ages and abilities, both boys and girls, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to gain exposure to the game. Our aim is to continue to strengthen this programme in the future.

Supporting charities and social enterprises
We are proud to have been able to support a number of causes over the years, either through fundraising, use of the club’s facilities or by providing publicity through the club’s communications channels. Recent examples include:

• Oasis - creating a sense of neighbourhood to overcome life’s challenges
• Hospice in the Weald
• Kent Air Ambulance
• Tunbridge Wells Maternity Unit
• Great Ormond Street Hospital
• Taylor Made Dreams - quality of life for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families
• Pathway CTM - social enterprise helping young adults into employment
