TJs End N1 On A High

1st May 2022

TJs brought the curtain down on their National 1 season with a final day victory over Bishop's Stortford on Saturday. A tense 20-23 win was their fifth victory in a tough debut season at Level 3.

Bright sunshine welcomed a large home crowd and it took both sides to warm to their respective games. TJs took the lead with a Ryan Taylor-Dennehy penalty nefpre BS scored a converted try. Both sides exchanged penalties before Joe Duffy, playing his 27th game of a 28 game season, crossed to take TJs in 10-13 up at the break after Taylor-Dennehy converted.

BS levelled at the start of the second galf with another penalty but TJs went ahead again through a try from Kyle McGhie. But again BS came back to level it with 4 minutes remaining.

But the final word, or kick, came to TJs as Kyle McGhie slotted a winning penalty to ensure the season ended with plenty of TJ smiles despite being relegated from National 1.

On Sunday TJs headed in numbers to the home of the Worcester Warriots, Sixways, to support the Academy against West Park Leeds in the National Colts Cup final.

TJs took an early lead but West Park pegged them back before TJs edged in front 14-7 at the break. West Park levelled shortly after the restart and gradually took control of the ball and territory. They had to wait until the final ten minutes though before scoring two late tries to seasl the 14-26 win and the Cup. A cracking game and one both sides can be proud of - well done All.
