TJs Wrestle Two Points

20th November 2021

Darlington Mowden Park made the longest of trips south to take on a a TJ squad in search of a winning performance. Another 'might have been' game ended with them taking the Win but TJs showed a spark that may yet burst into flame.

TJs started poorly and were three penalties down within seven minutes but they rallied with a Matt Foulds try and a converted effort from Adam Hakimian to edge in front on 20 minutes. DMP hit back though with two more penalties, a converted try and another penalty to go in 25-12 in front at half time.

DMP were well worth their lead as they controlled and kept the ball well but TJs had shown they could do some damage if they could get into the rigbeat Cinderford 22-20 to tighten everything back up at the top as Rosslyn Paerk beat Blackheath ht field positions.

A penalty try to TJs gave them hope after 51 minutes as a series of offences led to a high tackle and yellow card for DMP. TJs found sone spaces at last with Harvey Young making inroads but DMP worked the ball superbly from left to right and back again to manufacture a second try.

As time ebbed away TJs finished strongly and Tom Nicoll crashed over to make it 24-30 before time ran out.

TJs played well but will regret the penalty count against a dead-eye opposition kicker. Two points though added and they can look forward to the visit of Plymouth Albion next Saturday for a 2pm KO

Elsewhere Rams tightened everything up at the top as they bear Cinderford 22-20 after Rosslyn Park saw off Blackheath 55-14 on Friday night. Bishop's Stortford secured maximum points with a 33-3 win over Birmingham & Moseley, Leeds Tykes went down 12-29 to Chinnor and Taunton Titans lost 21-26 to Caldy. Plymouth Albion lost 17-0 at home to Cambrifge

The 3s were also in action on Saturday as they played a friendly against Sevenoaks, Tries from Ben Golds. Alex Borg, Jonnie Lewis, Dom Goodchild, Guy Wilczek and a brace from Matt Humphrey plus four conversions from Ben Mutch earned them a 43-12 win

Sunday Update - the Academy took on Sevenoaks in their National Cup Round 3 encounter at The Slade at Noon. And in a frantic game TJs secured the win with two penalties and a converted try in a 13-0 victory.
