TJs Fail To Bridge Gap

13th November 2021

TJs first foray into N1 this season saw them head to Cambridge for Round 10 of their campaign and despite scoring 3 tries they again came away with nil points to remain at the foot of the table.

Neither side came out of the blocks quick and you sensed both were feeling their way into the game but for very different reasons. Cambridge had a woeful start to their season but they'd rallied and were on a fine run of form being undefeated since end of September.

TJs were on the other end of the confidence spectrum but playing up the slope and into the breeze suggested a steady start and controlled game might give them the chance to compete and get their rugby going again.

Cambridge were the first to score after 13 minutes before TJs hit back with a Murray Galbraith-Lowe try after the half hour which White converted. But the joy was short lived as Cambridge came back with two converted tries before the break to go in 21-7 up.

All to play for then as TJs turned round with the slope and breeze in their favour. It wasn't to be though despite their best efforts as Cambridge capitalised on too many TJ offences to secure field position and further tries.

TJs though had the final say with a bullocking run by Duncan Tout saw him crash through and over from 25ms out. White converted but the game was done and Cambridge marched on with maximum points and TJs returned with nothing.

The Extras also travelled to Cambridge and secured a 42-21 win whilst the 3s headed to Snowdown CW for an impressive 5-45 victory.

The Ladies travelled to Streatham & C today (Sunday) and suffered their first loss of the season in a 13-7 reverse

Elsewhere in N1 Cinderford and Bishop's Stortford shared 13 tries in a 55-39 win for Cinderford to keep them top of the pile. Rosslyn Park remain second following a 8-29 win on the road. Blackheath beat Taunton 42-19, Caldy beat Leeds Tykes 31-28  and Plymouth Albion edged out Chinnor 36-41

Darlington MP were beaten 18-32 by Sale FC and they are next up for TJs at The Slade next Saturday KO 2.30pm
