Sportsmans, N1 opener and Return to Rugby

31st August 2021

It's been a long wait but September is almost here along with a return to playing rugby for many.

But before we herald in a new month and a new rugby season a quick thank you to all those merry TJs who managed to volunteer and to assist at the Edenbridge & Oxted Show on Sunday/Monday just gone - it's no hard work in the main but it needs doing to raise funds for the whole Club.

So a BIG thank you to all that made it and especially the old hands and U8 coaching team too!

We can now look forward to the actual rugby with a stellar opening weekend which includes

Friday night Sportsman's Dinner - James Haskell was due to be our guest but sadly he has to have emergency back surgery and cannot now make it. Ben Kay ex Leicester/England second row, RWC 2003 winner and TV Rugby pundit of note is now our guest so we should have a great evening albeit without water bottle fights! (See all ticket holders there from 7pm for a 7.30pm prompt start)

Saturday - National 1 rugby arrives at The Slade.  TJs open their first N1 campaign with an opening tie against Bishop's Stortford at 3pm. The Extra 1sts will also be playing BS's second string at 1pm

Before the game we will have an opening league lunch for 120+ attendees before the game commences

Entrance to the game (inc a programme) is £12 for Non Members and £10 for Members.

Sunday Age Grade registration day - starts from 9.30am onwards with a chance for age group families to register and sign up for the new season. The Club Shop and Bar will also be open.

  • You can buy a Season Ticket for all scheduled TJ N1 home games for £100 to add to your TJ Membership subscription. You must be a Member to qualify for a Season Ticket. For example a Non Playing membership is £80 so your payment would be £180 for membership + season ticket
  • Age Grade registration - all existing and new U6 to U18s must register their details using the RFU/GMS system. DO NOT pay via the same system as we need you to pay and complete the paper forms as per usual - see Membership pages for guidance on how to pay and the required forms
  • Please snsure you register your details and affiliate to TJs before the end of September

If you are attending any or all of this weekend's events then PLEASE offer to help where you can - we rely on a network of volunteers to get stuck in at all such Club events and there is always someone who needs a helping hand, if you have one.

Finally, please remember that the pandemic still impacts on us all and whilst the regulations may be less arduous for some than previously please be aware of the need for hand-washing, social distancing and the wearing of masks as appropriate - Stay Safe and respect the needs of others as well
