Charitable Saturday Less So Sunday

15th March 2020

It was a busy weekend for TJs despite everything happening at the moment including coronavirus and the weather.

On Saturday we managed to stage the long-anticipated special Charity match between a TJ All Stars squad and Weavering Warriors. Although getting to and from the pitch was still somewhat wet and muddy the pitch was in fairly good condition for two well matched teams

TJs welcomed back a range of players to slot in behind Will ‘Rick’ O’Shea to support his charitable efforts to raise money for GOSH and the Tunbridge Wells Hospital Neonatal Unit

For more information on these two charities and why raising funds is critical, please visit our Virgin page where you can still make a donation

Charlie Harding, Will Thorpe, Tim Collins and Lee Campion made appearances and blended seamlessly with old stalwarts such as Neil Underhill, Darren Reeves and Charlie Gregory to name but a few.

Weavering were fantastic opponents both on and off the field and it was good to see such a packed touchline and clubhouse supporting Will and his family/friends in their charitable efforts.

We will update you on what was raised once it has all been totted up

On Sunday TJs Pink Ladies headed to Brighton to play Lewes 2s in their penultimate league game of the season. The tie was also a RFU Junior Plate quarter final so a league and cup double header.

TJs proved to be simply too powerful for Lewes to handle and their dominance of the tackle area and strong running and handling saw them through to a convincing 7-51 victory.

Rachel Marsh grabbed a hat-trick, Megan Akehurst crossed for two more and Charlie Skilton, Harriet Gomersall, Izzy Joris and Mary Anderson also dotted down. Jules Teague managed to convert three in very windy conditions

The Ladies will close out their league campaign with a trip to Worthing in the coming weeks. They are top on points difference going into the game and know that a win/draw will secure the title.

However before that game they will face Yeovil at The Slade this Sunday (22nd March) at 2pm. Yeovil will be travelling in force so please do try and get down to cheer the Ladies on

Also on Sunday the U15s won 46-5 but the U16s went down 19-12 in the last few minutes to Blackheath.
