Maximum Points For TJs at Barnes

1st December 2019

TJs hit the Barnes trail on Saturday for Round 13 of this N2S campaign and seized the chance to go back to the top of the table after a 12-32 win and Taunton slipped up at Leicester Lions.

TJs started strongly with a well worked try sent Rory McHugh in at the corner and a catch and drive from the lineout sent Ryan Jackson over for a 0-12 lead early on. The first half meandered though as much of the game was played midfield and it wasn't until Mat Walsh was carded that Barnes closed the gap to 5-12 just before the break.

TJs came out strongly for the second half and breaks by Dave Priest set up their third and fourth tries. The first just inside the TJ half allowed him to spin the ball wide to Murray Galbraith-Lowe who out paced the defence to score. The second saw Priest crash through and offload to enable the ball to find Rory McHugh again on the left for him to go over and secure the try bonus point and a 5-22 lead.

The game halted for a while after the ref was injured and had to leave the field on crutches. Barnes scored again to narrow to 12-22 but two more tries from TJs saw them go clear again. The fifth try was another catch and drive by the pack and a touch down from Ryan Jackson. And the sixth was a stunning solo effort from McHugh who popped up in the centre, threw a dummy and charged over for a hat trick and a final score of 12-32.

On Friday night the TJ weekend had got off to a flyer with the visit of Paul Wallace to the Club as our special guest at the annual November Sportsmans Dinner. Despite a surprise shortage of tables and chairs the evening was a resounding success.

And on Sunday TJs Pink Ladies climbed to second in the league with a 38-0 win away at Seaford. Unfortunately their hosts were only able to field 10 players and when one was injured the game had to be abandoned.

TJs win on Saturday saw them return to the top of the table as Taunton lost 12-6 at Leicester Lions. Henley also climbed above the Titans and into second as they beat Dings 37-26 and Dings are next up for TJs as they visit The Slade on the 7th Dec for a 2.30pm KO
