Tip Top TJs Topple Titans

TJs welcomed Taunton Titans to The Slade on Saturday in a 1st v 2nd and inflicted a 68-31 defeat on the visitors, the fifth victory in five games against the Somerset Club in N2S.

Murray Galbraith-Lowe led the try scoring with 4 tries and Jack Nay added a brace along with touchdowns from Matt Walsh, Duncan Tout, Hugo Watson and Toby May. Will Robinson adding 9 out of 10 conversions in yet another majestic and maximum point haul for TJs.

Five first half tries and four conversions gave TJs a healthy 33-10 lead at the break. But they bettered that with five goals in the second half despite Taunton getting in for a bonus point at the end.

That win gives TJs a 5 point lead over Henley Hawks who beat Worthing Raiders 63-7 after losing to Taunton in Round 4. TJs head to Worthing next Saturday before returning to The Slade the following Saturday in Round 7. Book yourselves in for a pre-game league lunch asap to make the most of another potential 1st v 2nd encounter.

The 2s travelled to Medway for an Invicta 1 encounter and secured a 14-41 win with tries from Noah Ferdinand (3), Rob White, Tom Chapman and Ben Mutch (and one mystery try scorer) whilst Nathan Holmes converted three. 

Back at The Slade the 3s welcomed Whitstable 2s in a Kent & East Sussex Rural D4 game and ran out 65-7 winners despite the visitors scoring first. Tries from Harry Thompson (2), James Farmer (2), Charlie Shea, Dave Curtis, Platt Higgins, Matt Humphrey and Tom Carter were backed up with 6 conversions by Dylan Taylor-Dennehy who also added a try of his own and a penalty for good measure

On Sunday the TJs Pink Ladies returned to league action and they saw off a spirited Hove 2s 38-3 with 6 tries and 4 conversions. Tries from Carly (2), Jules, Chrissy, Marsh and Heike with Jules adding the extras. 

The Academy saw the U18s slip to a very heavy defeat to OEs but the U17s picked the spirits up with a 40-22 defeat of Sevenoaks. Pics from the U17s game can be found in the Academy Gallery courtesy of Mark Waterstone

The U13s march on as they won all three games at the Dorking Festival with a 4-1 defeat of Dorking Blues, a 5 nil win over East Grinstead adn a 4-1 victory against Effingham & Leatherhead securing many plaudits. The U13s at Sittingbourne was also cancelled due to the bad weather.

The Minis were due at Medway but water loggedpitches apparently put paid to that.

Elsewhere Rams victorious start to life in National 1 came to an end with a first defeat, a 37-22 loss at Richmond who went top. Canterbury though remain winless after a 41-20 reverse at Plymouth Albion. Blackheath beat Hull Ionians 44-19 and Old Elthamians saw off Cambridge 14-25. 

In National 2 South Bournemouth remain winless also as they slipped to a 39-14 defeat at Old Albanians. Westcliff were edged out 18-23 at home to Old Redcliffians and Redruth slipped past Dings Crusaders 26-23. Esher had another close encounter but overcame Leic ester Lions 16-12 and Barnes were pipped 10-12 by Bury St Edmunds. Clifton beat Sutton & Epsom 38-31.

In London & SE Premier Wimbledon and Rochford Hundred are locked at the top on maximum points. Wimbledon beat Bedford Athletic 53-13 and Rochford secured a 22-45 win at Sidcup. Wimbledon and Rochford lock horns on the 19th October

Tunbridge Wells slumped to a 31-7 defeat away at Guernsey and slipped to sixth. Sevenoaks were edged out 26-23 and find themselves tenth

London 1 South sees Westcombe Park leading the way with maximum points as well but Camberley are also undefeated but 1 point back. Combe enjoyed a 26-34 win at Chichester whilst Camberley had a slightly less easy ride with a 12-17 win over Thurrock.
