And breathe……..

8th July 2019

What a weekend it was (again) as the sun shone and the beer/cider flowed on TJs and the Beer Festival. Gary ‘The Judge’ Martin, Chris Hardwick and SIBA all pronounced it as another amazing success with the latter tweeting that it was another ‘stellar’ performance from TJs

For those who are unaware the event is primarily for the judging of all things SIBA re beers/ales (and even bottled/canned lagers) on the Friday with a very large number of volunteers sampling a range of types and strengths. Once that is all done and awards given the gates are then opened at 5pm to the general public to come along and make their own assessments.

TJ volunteers work closely with SIBA to ensure the smooth running of judgement day and then we open again on the Saturday from Noon to ensure as muchy of the beer and cider is consumed so it does not go to waste!

Gary and Chris lead from the front on it all but it can’t happen with the help of several others, notably Mike Mike and Janet Grasby, Jon Maidman and his team of BBQers (and more), Bill Mountney and family/friends on the Cider Bar and many more who deserve our collective thanks and appreciation.

The event also includes ‘musical entertainment’ and this year we had the pleasure of a brief fly past celebrating Skinners’ Day at Tonbridge School and also honouring Old Tonbridgian and Battle of Britain pilot James Brindley Nicolson.

So a HUGE Thank You to all that volunteered and supported the event – and if you were unable to do so this year then please make a note to do so next time
