TJs Go Out On A High

28th April 2019

A long, hard but exciting N2S season came to an end for TJs on the road at Birmingham & Solihull (Bees) and maximum points secured menat they ended ub third in the table just 1 point behind the runners up, Canterbury.

The Bees were already relegated along with LIWG and Guernsey, but they did not go quietly as they took an early 14-0 lead in very windy conditions. In fact they had much of the ball for all but 5 minutes of the first half when TJs levelled just before the break.

TJs enjoyed more possession and territory in the second half to ensure that they pulled away and stayed there to secure a 24-47 victory with 7 tries (tbc) and 6 conversions, in very tricky conditions, from Will Robinson

Elsewhere Canterbury lost 14-31 to Champions Rams but they will have had one eye on next Saturday's playoff game when they take on Chester from National 2 North to see who joins Rams and Hull Ionians in National 1 next season
Henley pushed hard to overhaul TJs at the death but a 33-12 home win over BSE saw them remain level on points with us but 4th as they had won fewer games. Taunton broke the 100 points with a try bouns point as they went down 66-31 at Worthing but still finished 5th

Thirty points away in 6th were Clifton who signed off with a 17-0 win over Old Reds. Redruth edged out Dings 33-20. Guernsey ended with a 26-19 win over Old Albanians abd LIWG went down 21-29 to Barnes

The Bees, Guernsey and LIWG will be replaced by Sutton & Epsom, Bournemouth and Westcliff who routed Barnstaple 44-5 in their playoff game.

Loughborough Students, Esher and Caldy were all relegated on the final day from National 1 as Ampthill & District secured promotion to The Championship. Esher will come our way with Caldy going North. Whether Loughborough also come into N2S is likely to depend on whether Canterbury or Chester go up.

Brighton had to come from well behind to beat Colchester 26-33 to secure promotion to London & SE Premier along with Champions of London 1 South, Sevenoaks.
