All Good Things Come To An End

5th January 2019

TJs headed to LIWG on Saturday in a N2S R17 encounter hoping to extend their unbeaten run to nine games but poor disciplibe in the second half triggered a turnaround in fortunes as LIWG won 44-31.

TJs started very brightly and they were 14 nil up wihin 7 minutes with a brace of sniping tries from Charlie Edwards and Will Robinson converting both. LIWG though hit back with a Liam Prescott penalty and a try of their own to close the gap but TJs went in 8-19 up at the break after Robinson added a try to his tally.

A fourth try from Tom Chapman gave TJs a bonus point but Yellow cards in quick succession for Ryan Jackson and Edwards tipped the balance in LIWG favour and they took advantage and the lead at 26-27. A red card for Ryan Ward who found himslef under the LIWG catcher at the restart compunded things further for TJs and LIWG added more tries to lead 41-26 before Chapman added another TJ try but it was too big a hill to climb and another Prescott penalty sealed the win for LIWG.

A massive disappointing way for TJs to start 2019 and they will have to ensure their discipline is much improved come the visit of third placed Henley Hawks next Saturday KO 2.30pm

Elsewhere Rams maintained their fine form with a 12-19 win at Henley to put tem 13 points clear at the top from second placed Canterbury who overcame Old Reds 47-12. Taunton are fourth after a ding dong of a game with Clifton where they eventually won 42-48.

TJs remain fifth and 11 points clear of Old Albanians who lost 20-24 to Barnes. Birmingham Bees beat Dings 25-15 but LIWG still climbed over them and Guernsey at the bottom as the Islanders lost 19-27 to BSE. Worthing enjoyed their trip to Hellfire Corner with a first win there, a 17-28 win.
