1s, 2s and Oompah Oompah This Weekend

3rd October 2018

On Saturday the 1st XV head to Bury St Edmunds in Round 6 of this season’s N2S campaign at 3pm in what is traditionally a belter of a game. Last season TJs did the double over BSE with a 36-28 home win on the last Saturday and a thumping 17-50 away win to announce that announced our arrival in N2S. BSE will remember that home defeat for sure as they had a new coach and new squad in harness and high hopes. Their 8th placed finish was not what they had hoped for

They’ve gone through some additional changes since and have a new squad and new coach and for now they are 8th again after 3 wins (Barnes, Guernsey and OAS) and 2 losses to Rams and Henley. TJs are 4th but just 2 points above their hosts and it can be small margins that make all the difference at this level of competition. A win on the road is always to be savoured and this game could be a significant indicator of where we are heading this time round with Barnes (H), Rams (A) and Guernsey (H) to follow.

The 2s are back in Invicta 1 action as they entertain Sidcup 2s at The Slade at 3pm. TJs went top of the table following a convincing win over Old Alleynians last Saturday. Sidcup lie fourth after a single narrow loss to Sevenoaks who TJs just edged out themselves. The squad are looking strong already but some will recall the game under lights at Sidcup last season when a strong squad could not prevail then so they’ll have to dig deep and make home advantage count to remain top dogs in Invicta 1 come Saturday evening.

Speaking of Saturday evening we have our first TJ Oktoberfest organised by TJs Pink Ladies’ finest, Katie Major. She’s promised us steins and bratwurst plus plenty of oompah oompah music to help the digestion so if you have not got your tickets yet then please contact Katie asap
