League Round Up

4th September 2017

So September arrived and league rugby for level 6 upwards clicked into gear again after the Summer break

In National 2(S) Tjs and Redruth grabbed the headlines with TJs enjoying a stellar start with a 17-50 away win at Bury St Edmunds and Redruth topping the points chart with a 58-10 defeat of newly promoted O Redcliffians.

Clifton could also claim a major prize with their 24 all draw with Chinnor as their visitors were tipped by many to be the standout squad this term. They still could be of course but a slow start for them.

Cinderford will also be looking for promotion after dropping ito N2S last season and perhaps being caught out in the all too often failure to realise promotion back is not always automatic at this level. A solid 17-39 win at Canterbury was a sound start and TJs welcome Canterbury to The Slade this Saturday for a 3pm KO

Our fellow promotes Wimbledon took on Barnstaple and lost 13-33 whilts Taunton Titans beat Broadstreet who were promoted from Midlands N3 by 41-21. And Henley were 28-24 winners over Redingensians whilst Worthing were 27-22 winners over London Irish WG. Just 29 games to go now for all

In National 1 Blackheath started with an impressive 32-31 over last season’s runners up Plymouth Albion. OEs, who were promoted from N2S last season, came unstuck 39-14 at Esher. Moseley and Ampthill shared a 21 all draw and Bishops’ Stortford, promoted as champions, impressed with a 49-26 of Caldy.

London Premier (N3L&SE in old money) saw newly promoted Sidcup and T Wells get off to winning starts. Sidcup beat Southend 25-35 whilst TW beat Shelford 39-19 with two late tries easing any worries. Guernsey had the biggest win with a 5-75 win over newly promoted Towcesterians who moved across from the Midlands division. Combe lost 32-26 to Tring and Sutton & Epsom impressed with a 32-35 win at Barnes.

In London 1(S) Sevenoaks lost out 28-10 at Chichester whilst Medway continue to climb back up their ladder with a 40-17 win over Gravesend.
