Moore Beer Please

9th July 2017

Summer is often a time for rest and recuperation after a long hard rugby season. But it is also a chance to put on a few Club events to provide even more enjoyment

On Friday 30th June the Club hosted just under 300 people at their annual Sportsmans' Dinner, this year with Brian Moore, ex England/British Lion and media pundit. Brian was joined on the evening by a bonus guest in Scott Hastings, also an ex British Lion who was on the '89 trip with Brian, and of course ex Scotland international and younger brother of Gavin.

Scott MC'd the event with gusto and humour and Brian spoke eloquently about his playing days and the modern game and much more - the marquee was transfixed throughout. Jon Maidman brought his usual top class style to the auction proceedings and everyone had a fantastic evening.

A big thank you to Mike Mike and Janet Grasby who once again put in week long shifts to make the event a phenominal success. And thank you also to everyone who helped move tables, cutlery and minds where appropriate.

The following weekend saw TJs host their 11th SIBA Beer Festival with judging on the Friday before the gates opened at 5pm through until 11pm. Saturday was a 12 hour shift with crowds enjoying the saunshine, blue skies and over 180 beers and ciders from 11am.

Jon Maidman and his hard working BBQers plus Steve and Mick laid on the grub on both Friday and Saturday again with some style, oh and apple sauce.

Gary 'The Judge' Martin and Chris 'Safe Hands' Hardwick are the TJ energy and drive behind the Beer Festival along with a suprisingly loyal bunch of helpers/supporters inc Mike Mike Grasby, Bill Mountney, Barry Walsh and many more besides

A Freat effort by all involved with both events and thank you to everyone who gave up some of their summer time to get involved, help and support us,
