N2S Fixtures For 2018-19 Out

7th June 2018

Birmingham & Solihull are first up for TJs on Saturday 1st September at The Slade. TJs head to Canterbury in Round 2. Here are the familiar foes from last season so you can plan your supportive efforts

Bury St Edmunds  @BSERugby
A familiar foe from N3 days also and always a strong opponent. TJs got the better of them home and away last season with two cracking games. TJs put 50 on them in their debut N2S tie which gave TJs an important marker for the season ahead. Went through a bit of a reorganise mid season. Away win 17-50 and Home win 36-28. 2017-18 finish 8th.
They play at the GK IPA Haberden, Southgate Green, Bury Saint Edmunds IP33 2BL - just a 2 and a half hour 105 mile road trip. Well worth the effort as a beautiful setting and excellent facilities. Green and Gold strip and known as the Wolfpack

Canterbury  @cantrugby
Kent neighbours who beat us 24-36 at The Slade before the squad gave TJs the best of Christmas presents with an exciting 19-22 away win with a squad brimming with current and recent Academy players. Some trip that one for sure.
They play in Black and Gold at 2 Merton La, Canterbury CT4 7BA - a straightforward 45 mile road trip of about an hour but also a fun one to let the train take the strain with an historic city with a few (not Spoons though) pubs to enjoy. Finished 10th after a strong start to their season before they fell away with just 4 wins in 2018

Clifton   @cliftonrugby
One of our trio of Bristolian clubs. Another one that TJs did the double over with a 14-24 away win and a 17-10 win at The Slade demonstrating how tight games can be and wins can be narrow and hard fought
They play in Lilac and White at Station Road, Cribbs Causeway, Bristol BS10 7TT - a 3 hours 20 mins 170 mile trip by road. Opportunity to mix and match with a Premiership game at Bristol, Bath and even Gloucester. Clifton Village is a renowned watering hole with plenty of great establishments to enjoy. Finished 11th in the end after winning 5 of their last 7 games.

Henley Hawks   @HenleyHawks
Two wins again last season for TJs with a 20-14 home result before a 15-20 away win in tough and emotional conditions as Henley. The away game was some result as TJs kept their hosts out for long periods of pressure to snatch a victory in the dark. One of those games where the opponents decided we could be beaten one way, and stuck to it. Before losing - presumably they won't make that mistake again.
Gold and green kit again and they play at Dry Leas, Marlow Road, Henley on Thames, RG9 2JA - just over 2 hours and a 70-80 mile trip depending on who is driving. Finished 9th after a poor finish to the season with just one win in their last ten ties

London Irish WG   @LondonIrishARFC
We've got to know LIWG fairly well over the years and always a hard fought fixture as a result. We lost at The Slade last time out but won 12-28 on the road. They finished 13th and just avoided relegation in a tough season where 15 try bonus points saved the day in the end
Guess what, they play in Green and White and play at Hazelwood Drive, Sunbury-on-Thames TW16 6QU. Just a 90 minute car ride or a 2 hour train journey away and a lovely ground and clubhouse. Good Guinness and an equally good craic.

Old Redcliffians  @OldRedsRFC
Another Bristol based outfit and never an easy place to either get to or play. TJs struggled at their place in a 14-10 loss which could have been a W in the final minutes. A 33-24 home win showed how travelling can be an issue at this level.
Naturally they play in Red (and Black) at Scotland Lane, Brislington, Bristol BS4 5LU which is a 3hrs 15 min 170 mile trip - 5 wins in their last 7 games meant they finished 12th in the end and displayed their fighting spirit.

Redingensians Rams  @Rams_RFC
The Rams were the first squad to really impress last season when they chalked up a 24-47 win at The Slade. Whilst TJs earned a credible 12-12 draw later in the season in very muddy conditions the Rams proved a handful for many as they finished a clear 3rd in the end.
They play in Blue and Black at Old Bath Road, Sonning, Reading RG4 6TQ which is just over 2hrs and 75 miles away but simpler than it sounds. Let's hope the weather is better for the next trip as a very different venue in the sunshine no doubt

Redruth  @RedruthRugby
The longest land trip to the famous Recreation Ground, Lower Cardrew Lane, Redruth TR15 1SY at just under 300 miles and 5hrs means one for a stop over for sure. Flights to Newquay are an option but with leisure hot spots such as St Ives not too far away a night or two away will do nicely.
Hell Fire corner was enjoyed on our first visit but wet and miserable conditions turned into a similar result with a 45-11 reverse. Back at The Slade a 34-26 win suggested that the Cornish boys travel better althoug they won just 3 of their 16 wins on the road all season. A poor finish with just one win in their last six will have been disappointing but they still finished 5th

Taunton Titans  @Taunton_RFC
One of the best facilities we visited last season and with a near perfect first half performance one of the games of the season, for TJs at least as they went in 7-43 in front before winning 26-66. A much harder affair back at The Slade with a 26-20 win all the same. Two results that will make for a very focussed opponent next time out one suspects.
Playing in Red/White at Home and Black/Red away they play at Commsplus Stadium, Hyde Lane, Bathpool, Taunton TA2 8BU which is 3 and a half hours and 170 miles away. A surprisingly easy journey but with the delights of Taunton and the surrounding area to enjot another for an overnight stay. Option of a trip to Exeter Chiefs as well although they tend to shy away from Friday or Sunday games it seems. They finished a clear 4th last season after another poor end to the season where they lost 3 of their last 4.

Worthing Raiders @WorthingRFC
And finally we have the Sussex based Raiders - the heart of Sussex rugby. A 23-10 away loss was one of TJ's poorest performance in the sunshine last season but a 25-21 home win made up for it, just.

A Blue and Gold kit with them playing at The Rugby Park, Roundstone Lane, Angmering BN16 4AX, just a 65 mile journey at around 90 minutes. They finished 7th last season winning their last 3 games
